Procurement Process and Risk Control
Common trade terms include EXW, FOB and CIF. Under EXW, the buyer handles transportation and export procedures from the factory. Under FOB, the seller handles export declaration and loads the vehicle onto the vessel at the named port. Under CIF, the seller arranges ocean freight and insurance to the destination port, while the buyer handles destination clearance, taxes and inland delivery.
The appropriate term depends on the buyer's logistics resources, import experience and cost-control preference.
